They might not turn any heads on the runway of normal life, but for three days in November unknown fashionistas will feel the glare of the camera flashes when Manchester Arndale presents the Fashion Cam 360º experience.

The UK center will turn shoppers into celebrities with a high-tech rig, which incorporates 32 computer-controlled cameras that shoot simultaneously and captures images in a rotational movement. Shoppers will get to put the final touches on their stylish outfits using the props and accessories that Manchester Arndale has assembled in a box for them, step into the fashion “ring,” hop onto the podium and strike their poses. The Fashion Cam 360º system then merges all of the footage into a 10-second video showing the 360º rotation, just like you’d see on the red carpet. That video can then be shared via social media.

“We wanted to bring a bit of star-quality to the high street like never before and when we saw this camera rig, we instantly knew it would be an innovative way for us to show off ourgreat array of fabulous party dresses from retailers here at the center. Not only can women see their fashion full circle, but friends can have lots of fun together creating a party moment and freeze-framing themselves in time,” said marketing director Sue Boor.

“We are certain there will be a real buzz online as people start to share their videos on Facebook and Twitter, and on our wall of fame on our website. The event is expected to be very popular and we will also have models on the Fashion Cam 360º wearing a variety of party dress styles to help give shoppers inspiration ahead of the start of party season.”

It will cost shoppers £2 ($) to enter the Fashion Cam 360º ring, with proceeds going to the Wood Street Mission, a charity that donates clothes and toys to local children living in poverty. Manchester Arndale will debut the camera rig at its INSIDE Live party dressshowcase starring Lydia Bright of ITV2’s The Only Way is Essex.

The Lead: Events firm MayNineteen Ltd.’s sister company, Freeze 360º, owns and operates the camera rig in a joint venture with Dropcity.
