Interior décor buffs will be happy to know that all of their favorite designers will be coming home for Christmas this year. Not to their homes, mind you, but to the Mall of America’s (MOA) HGTV Holiday House.

On Black Friday, MOA will unlock the front doors of the life-size gingerbread house, where shoppers will be able to meet network stars such as Genevieve Gorder of Dear Genevieve, Scott McGillivray of Income Property, and Kitchen Cousins Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri. Sara Peterson, editor-in-chief of HGTV Magazine, is also expected to drop by.

This co-branded experiential marketing project that Pop2Life realized is more than your typical meet-and-greet with small screen celebrities. Shoppers will actually be encouraged to hang out at the house to watch HGTV shows, join in a Monday night House Hunters Bingo game, view a holiday light show, enter sweepstakes to win gift cards and cash prizes, or have their gifts wrapped at a station in return for making a donation to the Rebuilding Together charity. They can bring the kids along on Toddler Tuesdays, too, for gingerbread cookie decorating, crafts and coloring.

The Holiday House also might serve to spread the traffic around the mall and take pressure off the promotional staff at the Santa set since HGTV’s custom holiday photo experience will be offered there, as well as a designated spot for visitors to pose for spontaneous photos in front of the house and a 44ft.-tall Christmas tree.

MOA’s other Black Friday treat: the opening of the HGTV Home Pop-Up Showroom, a 2,000sq.ft. boutique that will present the network’s new HGTV Home collection, including furniture, paint, flooring, lighting, plants and accessories.
