OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAChildren in Baltimore, USA, are turning the tables on cancer with some help from the White Marsh Mall. The center has partnered again with Cool Kids Campaign, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for young cancer patients and their families by helping to meet their academic, social and emotional needs.

On February 20, the center held a reception and open house to unveil a tile mosaic featuring the works that 92 current and former pediatric cancer patients created over the past five months. The artists, whose ages ranged from 18 months to 24 years, saw their collective piece take up an entire wall in the White Marsh Mall food court’s restroom hallway, where it will be on display for two months. The center of the mosaic also included the “Cancer Fears ME” program slogan and a thank-you message to the kids and their caregivers from The Children’s Hospitals at Sinai, University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins.

The event was also an opportunity to collect donations of toys and gift cards that will later be included in Cool Kids Campaign care packages.
