trendz web winter spring magic mirrorIn our last edition of Marketing Trendz, we told you about Rebecca Minkoff pairing up with eBay to run a Connected Store in New York City. It featured a high-tech changing room that could deliver personalized lighting, a mirror that recognized items that shoppers had brought in and uploads to a mobile app. Now we’re seeing New Age service from another partnership: Neiman Marcus iLab and Memomi Labs Inc. These two have introduced their MemoryMirror to the department store floor.

When a shopper tries on an outfit and steps in front of the mirror, the personalized session begins. The unit can record eight-second videos and display two of them side by side at a time so that shoppers can get a 360ª view of themselves on the split screen. Try on the same shirt in different colors and the mirror will store the videos to allow you to better compare the looks and make a more confident decision on which one to buy. It can even show you different colors one after another in real time.

For shoppers who are not impulse buyers and like to run their ideas by their friends, there is an option to select videos from the fit session and upload them to their mobile phone to review and share via e-mail or social media before making a final selection. Access is restricted by e-mail address login and a unique PIN.

Like the Connected Store mirror, the MemoryMirror comes with a sales associate interface that store staff uses to make recommendations to shoppers directly from the mirror.

This mirror can display a picture of you in different outfits at once:
