Branded a community shopping center, Cloverdale Mall (Etobicoke, Canada) is located just outside of Toronto and commonly donates space on a first-come, first-served basis to qualifying not-for-profit organizations to build awareness. Its homepage is colorful and quirky, with a grid of pictures equal in both eccentricity and size, taking up the whole space.

With the exception of the first square, which displays the center’s name, logo, and tagline, “All you need,” each square features a solid, color contrasting background and an interesting subject. The grid includes a collection of forks sticking out of a planter, the hand of a hairdresser snipping the long, hair-like bristles of a paintbrush, coffee beans spilling out of a bottle like pills, and a hammer with the head of a dill pickle. Each picture acts as a link to the same page, which lists the store directory.

At the center of the grid, two side-by-side squares show a stop-clock running by the second and a rotating list of questions, each one starting with the phrase “Do you need…” Matching the border, unusual questions like Do you need a mini fridge? Do you need bed sheets? Do you need some keys cut? and Do you need shoulder pads? help to make up the seemingly never-duplicating script.

Similar to the format of its homepage, the site’s The Buzz section poses the question, What’s the latest? and features a grid with more traditional pictures, all of which connect to the center’s Instagram account. The only visual connecting the two pages is a set of magazines folded in the shape of glasses. The caption for the snapshot reads, “Cloverdale is here every day for your everyday needs. From lifestyle magazines to a new pair of glasses, you’ll find #allyouneed and so much more.”
