trendz_web_issue3_2014_vogueThis September 4 and 5, Vogue Fashion’s Night Out took over Berlin and Düsseldorf, two of Germany’s most style-conscious cities. There was a lot to take in, from catwalk shows and designer interviews to pop-up shops and retail promotions at the likes of the Galeries Lafayette department store and Shadow Arkaden mall. The magazine’s readers didn’t miss any of it, thanks to a 52-page insert dedicated to the annual event.

German Vogue’s editorial and design teams visibly had some fun putting the piece together, especially the section that made designer accessories and footwear seem as accessible as snacks and drinks from a local convenience store. To satisfy fashion cravings, Vogue had the roster of places to pop into to grab an Elie Saab clutch or a pair of Chloé velour ankle boots right off the shelf.

The special insert/guide also included apparel spreads, detailed maps, Web links, ads, and highlights from the last five years of Vogue’s Fashion Night Out.

The Trendz Twist:

Produce a digital guide for your center’s fall/winter and spring/ summer fashion events (much cheaper than print!) with their own interactive and customizable style-hunting maps. Invite retailers to submit teaser video capsules on their new fashion line-ups, and post the complete piece to your websites (static and mobile), blog and social media pages. To spread the word even more, collaborate with local media and style bloggers.
