trendz_web_oct_nov_2016_swanseaAfter summer had come to a close, Swansea Mall reached beyond its primary target group of infants and elementary school children, with its first ever Karaoke Contest. Designed for those between 18 and 20 years old, in addition to its base demographic of mothers and young children, the contest looked to draw teens and Millennials for a rocking and rolling entertainment experience.

A go-to for those living in Southern Massachusetts and East Bay, Rhode Island, the center is focused on broadening its marketing strategy to complement its traditional retail selection.

“Swansea Mall is a traditional community mall and most events have been skewed towards young children. We are focused on expanding our approaches to reach more age groups,” noted Elaine Wilcox, specialty leasing manager.

In collaboration with WRIK Entertainment, the event was open to three different age groups with prizes exceeding $150 in gift cards to Macy’s, Walmart, Olympia Sports, Gamestop, and Fye. Seeking public attention beyond the mall’s traditional trade area, promotion for the contest took place via Facebook, radio (Culumus Media – WPRO FM) and print ads in the New Bedford Standard Times.
